Enrichment Week - Blog
Life is richer at Sts Peter and Paul!
Life is richer at Sts Peter and Paul!
Welcome to the official blog created by students to chronicle their experiences during Enrichment Weeks.
On these pages you’ll find personal accounts from our students discussing the wide range of activities they enjoyed both in college and off site.
Visits included residential trips to Iceland with the Geography department, France with the History department and Barcelona with the Maths department. Year 10 and 11 students will visited New York with the Business Studies teachers, while English staff and students explored creative writing skills in locations as diverse as Florida and Yorkshire, where students worked alongside a poet, a novelist and a playwright to set their imaginations on fire.
Back at College, students will take part in retreats to explore and deepen their faith. They will hear from inspirational speakers, attended careers workshops and take part in a host of music, dance and drama activities.
Our College Principal, Wendy White, said, “Enrichment Week is a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and learn outside the classroom. It is experiences like these which testify to the diverse, exciting and challenging curriculum at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College, and how we focus on the development of the whole child.”
Daily updates from home and abroad will allow students to record and share their memorable learning experiences with family and friends.
We hope that you enjoy reading about our experiences on these pages as much as we have enjoyed putting them together.
Look out for the next instalment of the blog following Enrichment Week in July 2015….

Year 10 Visit To Hope University
On Wednesday Mr Johsnton, Mrs Comber, Mrs Nolan and Mrs Ashes were
delighted to accompany a group of year 10 pupils to Liverpool Hope university
Pupils were given a warm welcome by current undergraduates who
showed them around the campus, talked to them about academic and social life at
Hope and gave them some tips for preparing for University Life.
After lunch pupils were given a lecture on study skills and heard
from current undergraduates about how Hope has enabled them not only to gain
knowledge and understanding of new things but it has provided an opportunity
for them to join various clubs and societies making new friends along
they way.
All pupils were fully engaged in the day and their behaviour was
exemplary. Well done to all involved and special thanks to Mr Johnston for
organising.

Thinking About Inclusion
Well done to all pupils who were involved in the activities hosted
by the Students from the University of Bradford and Merseystorm today.
There was a wonderful game of Wheelchair Rugby in
which Josh and Chelsea showcased their talents.
Some real stars in the archery - Lewis Featherstone really shone
out for his natural talent and special mention to Dominic, Ethan, Harry and
Charlotte for their fantastic efforts too.
All enjoyed a ride on the disability bikes and Mrs Fitzpatrick and
Mrs Ashes completed the five minute challenge alongside the pupils!
A fantastic opportunity for pupils and staff alike to try
something different and to reflect upon inclusion and how we are all different
but can celebrate this in different ways!

There's a little bit
of magic in every day...but today we had Disney magic!
It was a small world after all today as Saints Peter and Paul (with apparently every other school in England) descended on Disneyland Paris! Mr Acton has his summer shorts on and whether it was meeting Minnie and Mickie, blasting around Thunder Mountain or spending euros on souvenirs, a great day was had by everyone- though Mrs Mooney may be confused with Sebastian the lobster from The Little Mermaid tonight. Meanwhile Mr Buckton in particular was channeling some Disney magic! See our Twitter for all of today's action!
Next stop...le Tour Eiffel!

Can we kick it? Yes we can!
Bonjour from Paris! Walking in the footsteps of Zidane and Ronaldinho, Usain Bolt and many an international rugby player...not to mention the musical greats such as Celine Dion and One Direction, today Saints Peter and Paul visited the infamous 'Stade de France' in Saint Denis! With a seating capacity of 80,000 and hosting a variety of concerts and international sporting events including the 1998 World Cup, pupils got to tour around the stadium, eventually running out on to the pitch to music and applause! Not forgetting the simple pleasure of having a kick about with their football souvenirs. Even Mr Ashton showed off his football prowess...well sort of!

Music Department Visit To Blackpool
Although the weather was wet and miserable nothing could dampen the spirits of those students on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach visit.
MFL - Paris
It was a late night get away for a group of Year 7 and 8 students as they headed off to Paris at midnight on Sunday. After a quick stop at the services the group made the ferry crossing in good time and have arrived in Calais.
