Here in MFL the year 8s got to sample “a taste of Europe” which involved the students completing various tasks such as ordering food in French, designing a menu, matching up a conversation and finding the relevant words on a treasure hunt around the classroom. The final task was to order the actual food at a restaurant and students were able to sample food and drink such as croissants, breads, chocolate spread, fruit sangria, chorizo and sweets, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Year 9 focussed on the importance of languages and careers. We watched how Joey from friends required a knowledge of French for a major film role and saw which celebrities spoke various languages. Students were then able to reflect on how important languages can be in future career choices and made posters on their ideas. In their second session with MFL, year 9 also got to sample “a taste of Europe” which they also fully enjoyed.
