Life is richer at Sts Peter and Paul!

Welcome to the official blog created by students to chronicle their experiences during Enrichment Weeks.

On these pages you’ll find personal accounts from our students discussing the wide range of activities they enjoyed both in college and off site.

Visits included residential trips to Iceland with the Geography department, France with the History department and Barcelona with the Maths department. Year 10 and 11 students will visited New York with the Business Studies teachers, while English staff and students explored creative writing skills in locations as diverse as Florida and Yorkshire, where students worked alongside a poet, a novelist and a playwright to set their imaginations on fire.

Back at College, students will take part in retreats to explore and deepen their faith. They will hear from inspirational speakers, attended careers workshops and take part in a host of music, dance and drama activities.

Our College Principal, Wendy White, said, “Enrichment Week is a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and learn outside the classroom. It is experiences like these which testify to the diverse, exciting and challenging curriculum at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College, and how we focus on the development of the whole child.”

Daily updates from home and abroad will allow students to record and share their memorable learning experiences with family and friends.

We hope that you enjoy reading about our experiences on these pages as much as we have enjoyed putting them together.

Look out for the next instalment of the blog following Enrichment Week in July 2015….

New York

Well what a fantastic time we're having. After arriving to the hotel around 3pm yesterday afternoon, we took an hour or two to settle in before we took to the streets of NYC.  In the evening took a stroll down to Time Square, enjoyed a nice meal and more importantly to some, started our shopping.

After a good night’s sleep we woke up as fresh as daisy, and started off the day with a New York bagel (or two) from the breakfast buffet before heading down to the Station Island ferry where we enjoyed the sights offered by The Statue of Liberty and a tour around the historic Ellis Island were we told about our own historic links between the port of Liverpool and New York.

We then took the subway down to Ground Zero for an emotional tribute that paid honor to all of those who sadly lost their lives in 9/11, we were especially touched by the tree at the site which was the only item to survive the divesting effect of the Twin Towers falling. At the nearby financial district we were given an insight into just how far a business  studies qualification could take you when we walked the sidewalks of the world famous Wall Street with its spectacular buildings and architecture. After grabbing a bite to eat many of us took the opportunity to purchase some gifts from Century 21 and The South Sea Port, as well as treating ourselves in the process of course.

As we write this, our first post, we are contemplating just how many shopping bags from Macy's we can physically carry to our home away from home, 124 Park South Hotel.

We wish everyone a happy start to enrichment week and look forward to writing our next post. See you soon.
