Life is richer at Sts Peter and Paul!

Welcome to the official blog created by students to chronicle their experiences during Enrichment Weeks.

On these pages you’ll find personal accounts from our students discussing the wide range of activities they enjoyed both in college and off site.

Visits included residential trips to Iceland with the Geography department, France with the History department and Barcelona with the Maths department. Year 10 and 11 students will visited New York with the Business Studies teachers, while English staff and students explored creative writing skills in locations as diverse as Florida and Yorkshire, where students worked alongside a poet, a novelist and a playwright to set their imaginations on fire.

Back at College, students will take part in retreats to explore and deepen their faith. They will hear from inspirational speakers, attended careers workshops and take part in a host of music, dance and drama activities.

Our College Principal, Wendy White, said, “Enrichment Week is a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and learn outside the classroom. It is experiences like these which testify to the diverse, exciting and challenging curriculum at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College, and how we focus on the development of the whole child.”

Daily updates from home and abroad will allow students to record and share their memorable learning experiences with family and friends.

We hope that you enjoy reading about our experiences on these pages as much as we have enjoyed putting them together.

Look out for the next instalment of the blog following Enrichment Week in July 2015….

Rock Project - Y9

"Today I played bass guitar with John. I found it interesting and challenging as I have never played bass before so it was a new experience for me. I found the first song, Rolling in the Deep by Adele, pretty easy however the second song, Beat It by Michael Jackson, more challenging. I loved working with John as he was very enthusiastic and encouraging and he broke down parts and slowed things down at first to make things easier for us. My fingers kind of hurt though but because John told us how to play properly I didn't get a blister. At first we worked in small groups where we were all doing the same thing and we could concentrate more. Then we all came together to perform the piece; which was kind of difficult as I often lost concentration." - Georgia Shaw

"For the Rock project, I was singing, I worked with Nattily  and I think she is great to work with. we sang rolling in the deep by Adele and ‘beat it’ by Michael Jackson and I think the songs are great. also in the music room we had a really fun game singing lines from Disney's frozen let it go. I have enjoyed every second of the rock project and I hope to work with them again." Michael Nulty

"Today I worked with Mike playing the guitar. He was very patient when teaching us and we got through the two songs quite quickly. We learn Rolling In The Deep and Beat It. I preferred rolling in the deep as I found it less complicated but still challenging. I enjoyed working with the people in my group as we were all interested in playing the guitar and supported each other. I also enjoyed working in the bigger group and I think it sounded good altogether." Hannah McCaffrey

"I was with Ollie on drums. He was a boss tutor! He taught me 'rolling in the deep' and 'beat it'.. I liked them both a lot! I couldn't pick a favourite because I like 'beat it' but it was really repetitive and couldn't do as many fills as in the other one. I'D DO THIS AGAIN ANY DAY, ITS SO GOOD!!" - Sal Roberts

"At the rock project today I worked with john who was the bass teacher and learnt base for the first time, and I found it quite easy despite the fact that I have a couple of blisters because of it. I learnt to play beat it by Michael Jackson and rolling in the deep, and found it really interesting and fun therefore really enjoyed it. - Matthew Lord

"Today I worked on my vocals with Nat McCool. She was very supportive and encouraging & also gave us an insight into her musical career. The songs we worked on were not the usual genre I sing so they took me out of my comfort zone slightly but I still enjoyed singing them (my favourite was Rolling in the Deep). I liked working with her and also I enjoyed working with the other students. I would do this again but I would like some choice in what songs we play and also I prefer working as a solo artist." - Abi Bamford:
