Life is richer at Sts Peter and Paul!

Welcome to the official blog created by students to chronicle their experiences during Enrichment Weeks.

On these pages you’ll find personal accounts from our students discussing the wide range of activities they enjoyed both in college and off site.

Visits included residential trips to Iceland with the Geography department, France with the History department and Barcelona with the Maths department. Year 10 and 11 students will visited New York with the Business Studies teachers, while English staff and students explored creative writing skills in locations as diverse as Florida and Yorkshire, where students worked alongside a poet, a novelist and a playwright to set their imaginations on fire.

Back at College, students will take part in retreats to explore and deepen their faith. They will hear from inspirational speakers, attended careers workshops and take part in a host of music, dance and drama activities.

Our College Principal, Wendy White, said, “Enrichment Week is a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and learn outside the classroom. It is experiences like these which testify to the diverse, exciting and challenging curriculum at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College, and how we focus on the development of the whole child.”

Daily updates from home and abroad will allow students to record and share their memorable learning experiences with family and friends.

We hope that you enjoy reading about our experiences on these pages as much as we have enjoyed putting them together.

Look out for the next instalment of the blog following Enrichment Week in July 2015….

Rock Project - Y8

"Today I took part in the 'Rock Project' with instructors who had got a degree in performing arts. I chose to learn bass guitar with the instructor John, and I really enjoyed it! First we learnt the chords for Seven Nation Army and after lots of practice all of the groups got together to perform the song. After, we learnt the chords for Teenage Kicks and again after practice we performed together as a group. We also got to watch the instructors perform afterwards which was amazing! They were really talented.

I have really enjoyed taking part in the Rock Project today and I hope to do it again next year!" -Kendal McDermott

"I liked it a lot and it was very fun I would love to do it again, this is an amazing activity." - Ethan Dwyer

"The Rock Project is a very fun activity which we had the chance to take part in we got to sing ,play guitar and drums even if we didn't know what to do they taught us.  Natalie helped some of us to learnt how to sing rock (seven nation army, teenage kicks) after we learnt them we joined up with the guitar and drum players an performed as a group.  Then we split up into 2 groups and then watched each -others groups I really enjoyed doing this and I hope they do it next year also." -Megan Langley

"I really enjoyed it today because I learnt how to play the drums and I worked with drummer Olly who helped us learn '7 nation army'. I really enjoyed it because I didn't use to be able to play the drums." - Kieran Langley

"I chose to sing I have never sang in front  of people be fore I really liked it though it has given me more confidence  I think I will definitely do some thing like this in the future this day has been amazing." - Chelsea Probert

"Despite the fact I was a beginner to the instrument, I quite enjoyed performing with the base guitar and working with Kendal whilst I was learning. My favourite song to play was Red Nations Army and that was also the song I performed as a group at the end of the day. I thought it was fun and different from the keyboard I am used to. I got to work with professional musicians and learnt a great deal. I really hope I get to do this again next year!!"  - Charlie Lamb

"We got to work with professional musicians, I learnt electric guitar which was really fun, but be warned your fingers will ache ha ha!!!  We learnt 'teenage kicks' and '7 nation army', I had a lot of fun and there are plenty more instruments to learn. At the end we all did a group performance which I really liked." - Zak Adshead
